Boy Scouts Troop 253 has been serving the Flushing, NY community since 1991. For the last 30 years, this troop has offered a high quality program, teaching the young men of Flushing the life skills they will put to use in the future. At the center of our goals is fun. The Troop participates in a variety of activities and it couples fun and learning to develop exemplary Boy Scouts.

Leadership
Safety is of primary concern to the Troop's leaders. All activities operate under the guidelines of The Guide to Safe Scouting of the Boy Scouts of America. These guidelines ensure that the various youth and adults in the troop participate in safe environments. Our outdoor activities, as numerous as they are, will always have a minimum of two adults in attendance to ensure that safety is maintained.
The protection of our youth, in a society where youth are often victims of abuse, is of utmost importance to us. For this reason, our adults are trained in Youth Protection (as offered by the Boy Scouts of America) and in VIRTUS or Protecting God's Children (as offered by the Catholic Church Diocese). Both trainings ensure that the various adults working with Troop 253 are aware that the protection of our youth members is a serious issue.
