The PTA provides a lot of the stuff around campus - playground equipment, noon recess activities, teacher appreciation events and even the school supplies for the classrooms. Money comes in via the Walkathon, the auction, the book fair and a direct ask at the beginning of the school year. The PTA holds monthly meetings, usually right after drop off but sometimes in the evening too.
LAEF pays for teachers and program staff supporting STEM, physical education, libraries, art, music and computer science in addition to smaller class sizes in grades K-3 and 7-8, and more junior high electives. Every child in the LASD benefits from LAEF.
The suggested donation for this year is $1200 per child. You can donate in a lump sum or monthly and don’t forget about employer matching. LAEF strives for 100% participation. Please visit their webpage to donate proactively so the volunteers don’t have to call you.
A community-building and fundraising event usually held in the first half of October on a Saturday morning. Super fun for the whole family! Things to bring: lawn chairs, sunscreen, and a shade tent if you have it. There will be food trucks and snacks for sale.
Super fun and the biggest PTA fundraiser of the year. Generally it is held in the spring and consists of dinner, a silent auction and a live auction at a local hotel. The auction always has a theme which can be seen in both auction paraphernalia and how attendees dress (optional). You can buy tickets when you fill out your PTA Back to School info or as the event gets closer.
A fundraising event put on by the PTA each fall and held in the Multi. A plethora of interesting books, all carefully arranged so it’s easy to find the right one. Come pick out a book to give as a gift this holiday season, a book for your teacher from their wishlist and a new one for yourself!
