The Springer PTA provides all students with their school supplies.
Traditionally TK & K's first few weeks are half days, so they only need their backpack and a snack for those going home after dismissal. Those that will be attending an aftercare program should also pack a lunch.
Grades 1-6 need their backpack, a snack, and their lunch (assuming you have not ordered hot lunch for them).
You will be emailed the Friday before school begins your specific class assignment. There is also an event each year called Pop ‘n Stop (pop is short for popsicles, provided by the PTA) later that afternoon where you can come down and see the posted lists outside the multipurpose room. This is a great time to take your student over to see which classroom is theirs and to familiarize yourself with the campus if you have not done so previously.
For TK and Kindergarten: walk your child to their classroom, they will always meet there, and teachers will walk them to assemblies if they are attending.
For all other grades: there are yellow lines marked with room numbers on the blacktop quad in the center of campus. Students line up there every day with their classmates at the first bell and will have a morning assembly, weather permitting. On rainy days, students go to their classrooms.
Everyone has a mid-morning snack and recess break, slightly staggered for TK & Kindergarten. Lunches are staggered in the afternoon from 11:45-12:45. There is hot lunch available provided by Choice Lunch. You will receive emails about how to sign up through them, if you wish to purchase hot lunch for your child. All families need to provide their own snacks for the morning break however; there is no campus option for those.
Additional lunch note: Lunch time parent volunteers are essential because they distribute hot lunches and are playground monitors for grades 1-6! If you are available to help, please sign up at the PTA Back to School Coffee or contact the PTA.
Peanuts and tree nuts are allowed at Springer but each eating area has designated no peanuts table(s) and classrooms are peanut free. All hot lunches are nut free (both peanut and tree nut.)
The best time to start learning about opportunities is at the Back to School Coffee hosted by the PTA on the first day of school at 8:30. There will be many parents there to meet and chat with and lots of lists of school activities that require parent help to happen!
You will also receive many emails about PTA meetings and opportunities to volunteer! The spring auction is a big event for fundraising and the October Walk-a-Thon is an old Springer fundraiser that students love.
Back to School night in September will give you more information about the various events that will happen for your child’s specific class and volunteering for those.
