Exmouth is a thriving seaside town with a wide range of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, a stunning marina and two miles of golden sandy beach. It is at the start of the Jurassic Coast (World Heritage Site) and also on the East Devon Way (coastal footpath). There is a cycle track from Exmouth along the Exe estuary, through Lympstone and Topsham, to Exeter and down the west bank of the river to Dawlish. Exmouth has a frequent train service to Exeter and beyond – this train ride affords stunning river views. There are also plenty of bus services and so a car is not essential.
