• Identity & Vehicle Documents

- Driving license and vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) uploaded for driver verification

- Ratings and reviews

• Communication Data

- In-app chat messages between ride partners

- Emergency contact details (stored on your device only)

• Device & Technical Data

- Device push notification token (for ride alerts)

2. How We Use Your Information

- To create and manage your account

- To match drivers and passengers for shared rides

- To verify driver identity and vehicle documents

- To send ride booking notifications and updates

- To calculate and display your CO₂ savings and ride activity

- To maintain safety through ratings and reviews

3. Third-Party Services

WeGo uses the following third-party services which may process your data:

- Firebase (Google) — phone number authentication and push notifications

- Cloudinary — secure storage of profile photos and documents

- Google Places API — location search and autocomplete

Each service has its own privacy policy governing their data practices.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data:

- With your ride partner (name, phone number — only after mutual consent in-app)

- With third-party services listed above to operate the app

- When required by law

5. Data Security

- Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt

- All data is transmitted over HTTPS

- Documents are stored securely on Cloudinary with restricted access

- Authentication uses short-lived JWT tokens

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app. Upon deletion:

- Your personal data is permanently removed

- Your email address is locked from re-registration for 30 days to prevent misuse

- Ride history may be retained in anonymised form

7. Children's Privacy

WeGo is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

- Access the personal data we hold about you

- Request correction of inaccurate data

- Request deletion of your account and data

- Withdraw consent at any time
