Sean P. Wernert-Eighmy, Ph.D.
Sean Patrick Wernert-Eighmy offers over two decades of experience in higher education at three separate and distinct institutions ranging from state community college, 4-year state land grant institution, and a highly selective private institution.
Before launching W-E Education, Dr. Wernert-Eighmy has served as the Associate Provost of Student Success & Advising at Indiana State University overseeing university wide student success and advising initiatives. In this role, he established the Sycamore One Stop, centralized all undergraduate academic advising, and created an advising & student success structure that sets the foundation for sustainable retention and graduation growth at ISU.
Prior to this role, Dr. Wernert-Eighmy served as the Director of University Academic Advising & Advocacy at Colorado State University. In this role, he provided strategic planning, assessment, and oversight of university wide advising training, professional development, outreach & advocacy initiatives, and advising technology tools. He has provided supervisory leadership for four distinct advising units: Health Professions Advising, Exploratory Studies Student Advising, and university-wide Advising Training & Development, and the Office of Academic Advocacy.
Before joining CSU, he served as a full professional faculty member (SPF) in the University of Notre Dame’s First Year of Studies (FYS) and advised first-year students pursuing majors in all academic disciplines. In addition to his role as an advisor, Dr. Wernert served as the director of ND Ignite. He also directed and managed the FYS foreign language placement and mathematics credit exam program.
He has also serves as an academic advisor and admissions representative at Owens State Community College in Toledo, Ohio.
Dr. Wernert-Eighmy has also taught a wide range of courses focusing on self-discernment, decision-making, current events, and research at CSU, Notre Dame, and Owens Community College. He also served as a concurrent faculty member at in Notre Dame's interdisciplinary minor in Education, Schooling, and Society as well as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Developmental Education at Owens.
Holding a B.A. in English Literature and Peace Studies from Xavier University, Dr. Wernert-Eighmy earned his M.Ed. in Higher Education from the University of Toledo and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in 2017.
