Our university brings together individuals from a variety of backgrounds, showcasing diversity at every turn. Just with a few conversations, we are able to get a glimpse into people’s lives and see how much they may differ from or mirror our own. University is not easy, nor is it inexpensive. WeCloud aims to alleviate some of the burden by providing students with useful resources, without adding to the burden on our environment.
We began as a team of six undergraduate students, from different academic backgrounds, but the same goals in mind. While our mission began in Oshawa, we have been eager to expand as we strongly believe in the benefits of our initiative. Our efforts are not limited to this school; we aim to create a hub that can be used by youth all over Ontario.
WeCloud began with a simple yet powerful conversation about change. We wanted to do something meaningful to build a stronger community, connect friends, and make the world a little healthier. So in 2022, we rolled up our sleeves and started our journey.
Our process is simple: we gather donations from students and faculty, carefully clean, organize, and then display them for other students to benefit from. The remaining items are then donated to a local youth shelter, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
We are proud to say that our little cost-free initiative has already made a big difference. It is helping students find items and resources they may need, it's reducing waste, and it's putting smiles on faces. To us, weCloud is a lightning example of how simple conversations can turn into powerful actions that bring people together and create positive change.
