Everybody's into cultural heritage these days, though mine (Anglo-Saxon) is not flavour of the month at the moment! Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that. As a Yorkshireman my heritage is the Danelaw - Viking blood! (so watch it!) Also, in our family Bible is a Welsh connection going back to the 1860's, so that's my cultural heritage too!
Anglo-Saxon Sagas and Songs was the second book I uploaded to Kindle. It was a collection of short stories and poems that I had written at various times while studying Eng. Lit at uni, and researching for my first novel thereafter. I didn't expect much of it as it was a niche interest, but to my surprise it became a best seller. Now, by "best seller", I'm not talking 50 Shades of Grey. I mean, a best seller for me, selling at about 30 per month, and that kept up for about six years, and it still sells 5 or 6 per month.
Encouraged by its success, I scoured my hard drive and, with the help of a dozen or so new stories and poems, came up with two similar collections. A sample story, from Anglo-Saxon Stories and Poems, the third in the series, is given below.
Anglo-Saxon Sagas and songs was the second e-book I created back in 2010. It was harder to get cover images back then, though the public domain pictures of Nordic helmets worked well. More recently there are free, or cheap image sites, and, more recently still, (so-called) AI.
