Ronald Bachmann

I am a labour economist at the RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, Germany, and head of the research unit "Labour Markets, Education, Population" at RWI, professor of labour economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Research Fellow of the IZA@LIZER Network and Fellow of the Labor Hub. 

I am also a mentor of the FIS Junior Research Group ÖkTAAWe (Green Transition, Labour Markets, Vocational and Further Training) at RWI, and scientific coordinator of the Horizon Europe SkiLMeeT (Skills for Labour Markets in the Digital and Green Transition) project. The goal of my research is to contribute to a better understanding of the labour-market effects of the digital transition and of the green transition. I therefore empirically investigate the following research questions: How do these transitions affect labour-market trajectories and wages? How do individuals adapt to these transitions, e.g. through mobility decisions or education and training? Which role can labour-market policies and institutions play, in this context and more broadly?
