Ronald Bachmann

I am a labour economist at the RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, Germany, and head of the research unit "Labour Markets, Education, Population" at RWI, professor of labour economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, and Research Follow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA). I am also scientific coordinator of the Horizon Europe SkiLMeeT (Skills for Labour Markets in the Digital and Green Transition) project. You can find a detailed CV here.

The goal of my research is to contribute to a better understanding of the labour-market effects of the digital transition and of the green transition. I therefore empirically investigate the following research questions: How do these transitions affect labour-market trajectories and wages? How do individuals adapt to these transitions, e.g. through mobility decisions or education and training? Which role can labour-market policies play, in this context and more broadly?
