WEBMC is Western’s biomedical engineering club, dedicated to bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world impact. At the heart of our community is a student-led build team, where students from all backgrounds can explore their interests and passions for biomedical engineering. Our team provides the resources, mentorship, and creative freedom for students to turn their ideas into tangible innovations.

The True North Biomedical Engineering Competition (TNBC) is a national, year-long medical device design competition that challenges student teams to develop, prototype, and validate innovative biomedical solutions to real-world healthcare problems.
Teams from universities across Canada design test their devices throughout the academic year before gathering at a host university for the final competition, where projects are evaluated on technical performance, innovation, and clinical impact to determine the national champion. We are collaborating with Robarts Research Institute on biomedical engineering projects aimed at improving healthcare accessibility in low-resource settings.
These projects provide students with valuable experience in rapid prototyping, frugal design principles, and interdisciplinary medical device development, equipping them with practical skills for their future engineering careers.
