Prof. Sanjay Kumar Pandey is a Professor of Mathematics and the Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, India. He is also member of various educational bodies in India. His expertise lies in mathematical modelling, biomechanics, fluid mechanics, digital image processing and graph theory. His key findings in biomechanics include discovery of dilation of peristaltic waves to create high pressure in the distal esophagus, introduction of an intermediate layer of higher viscosity between the core and mucous layers to overcome constipation etc. His research group also discovered some interesting and fundamental characteristics of atmospheric whirl-winds. He has a large number of publications in top journals of international repute. He also serves as editorial board member of some research journals, and is the Executive editor (mathematics) of Journal of International Academy of Physical Sciences, Allahabad. He has also run research projects of various organizations as PI and Co-PI
Prof. Pandey has wide expertise in teaching mathematics and computer science. As Professor-in-charge, Training and placement of his department, he brought his department on the top in terms of placement in his institute. His love for languages and literature made him a poet, litterateur, a vocal senator, an editor of the newsletter of his Institute etc.
