Willem de Vlaming studeerde hedendaagse en sociaal-economische geschiedenis aan de Universiteit van Utrecht. Na zijn afstuderen begon hij zijn carrière als onderzoeker, beleidsadviseur, beleidscontroller en interim-hoofd van de eenheid Evaluatie en Effectiviteitsonderzoek bij het Ministerie van Onderwijs en Wetenschappen. Later werd hij zelfstandig adviseur en (team)coach en docent bij Fontys Hogescholen. Als docent omvat zijn expertise: beleid en organisatie, verandermanagement, (team)coaching, professioneel schrijven en praktijkgericht onderzoek.

Willem publiceert over onderwerpen als professionalisering, professioneel schrijven, praktijkgericht onderzoek en (beleids)onderzoek. Als adviseur werkt hij vooral in het domein van de (lokale) overheid, het onderwijs en professionele organisaties.

Willem de Vlaming studied contemporary and socio-economic history at the University of Utrecht. After his graduation started his career as a researcher and as policy adviser, policy controller, and interim head of the unit Evaluation and Effectivity Research at the Dutch Ministry of Education and Sciences. Later he became an independent consultant and (team)coach, and lecturer at Fontys University of Applied Sciences.  As a lecturer his expertise covers: policy and organization, change management, (team)coaching, professional writing, and applied research.

Willem publishes about subjects like professionalization, professional writing, practice oriented inquiry and (policy)research. As consultant he mostly works in the domain of (local) government, education and professional organizations.
