Bringing world dance students to Bahia, Brazil, is a transformative pilgrimage to the "Black Rome" of the Americas, where the art of movement is inseparable from its deep ancestral roots. By immersing themselves in the spiritual traditions of Candomblé and the communal, improvisational energy of Samba de Roda, students move beyond technical choreography to experience the "Axé"—the vital life force that fuels the region’s creative expression. This journey fosters cultural humility and artistic liberation, allowing dancers to connect with the history of resistance and joy that defines the art form and empowering them to express their own stories with newfound depth and authenticity.

Bahia is a vibrant state in Northeastern Brazil, widely considered the cultural heart of the country. It is famous for its deep Afro-Brazilian roots, colonial history, and stunning natural landscapes. In Bahia, music and capoeira are not just entertainment; they are living testaments to resistance, spirituality, and community. Deeply rooted in Afro-Brazilian history, these traditions are inextricably linked, with music serving as the "heartbeat" that dictates the pace and spirit of the martial art.
