Hi , I was not able to install WD discovery on a new laptop, though its been running without problems on 4 other machines on my network. I tried the link that dazdar submitted above and it worked. Immediately after it informed me that the software was out of date so I updated it, which installed exactly the same installer I had been struggling with and it failed just as it had before. Then I got that strange conspiracy theory feeling and decided to accept to share my personal data with WD, and it installed like a charm!. I think that WD is making more money on data mining than on selling drives.

Discovery can be configured to be on standard or basic mode. Use the standard option to actively find devices in your network, which will better guarantee the discovery of endpoints and provide richer device classification.

You can customize the list of devices that are used to perform standard discovery. You can either enable standard discovery on all the onboarded devices that also support this capability (currently - Windows 10 or later and Windows Server 2019 or later devices only) or select a subset or subsets of your devices by specifying their device tags.

Standard discovery uses various PowerShell scripts to actively probe devices in the network. Those PowerShell scripts are Microsoft signed and are executed from the following location: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection\Downloads\*.ps. For example, C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection\Downloads\UnicastScannerV1.1.0.ps1.

I find the Network and Sharing Center interface to be somewhat confusing and not very intuitive. As defined in the title, I configure the discovery Methods on my Lab but only Users i created and SCCM01 computer are reconnignised. I cannot keep on configure Client Push Installation.

Could someone tell me what 's going wrong please?

I looked through the settings in the discovery template, and I cannot see where to disable them. I looked through the properties on the Application Monitor and it's respective Template, and I cannot see how this is all linked up.

You cannot eliminate particular scan types from being performed during the Network Sonar Discovery. There are however some fairly significant discovery improvements included in the SAM 6.3 release (currently in beta), which should address your concerns.

You mentioned that 6.3 was going to address this, but, I am not at all sure where to look. I reviewed my discovery settings, and nothing appeared to be there regarding which applications are automatically scanned during discovery.

In some cases, the agent install command appears to fail. For example, a failure can appear with the Windows Services Manager showing that the discovery services are not being created. In this case, add /log install.log to the command to generate a verbose installation log.

WifiDirect works atleast over Windows 10 & 8.1 in UWP apps using PeerFinder library. However using this lib you can perform discovery either PC to PC OR mobile to mobile NOT PC to mobile or vice versa.

All that "Function discovery resource publication" does is make my own workstation appear in the list, I go up 1 computer in the list when it's running. Do I have to do this for every computer?
