This Discussion Guide is designed to support Clinical Educators and Interns in building a strong, collaborative foundation at the start of their placement. Adapted from SUCCEED at Mentoring, Coaching, and Instructional Leadership, it provides structured prompts to guide an open conversation about roles, expectations, communication, prior experience, and professional needs. The guide helps both partners clarify responsibilities, establish routines, and foster a positive working relationship that prioritizes reflection, active listening, and shared understanding.

The Collaborative Communication Log is a structured tool used by the Clinical Educator and intern to document ongoing conversations about the internship experience. It provides space to capture what is working well, current areas of focus, challenges, or concerns. The form also outlines next steps for both the Clinical Educator and intern to support growth and progress. Each entry includes the meeting date and identifies the focus for the next meeting, ensuring consistent communication, accountability, and alignment throughout the internship.
