The Wireless Communications Research Laboratory (WCRL) studies the physical layer of wireless systems: how signals are modulated, synchronized, estimated, and steered through multiple antennas. Our current focus is reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and beamforming for 5G/6G networks. We carry our algorithms from analysis and simulation to FPGA implementation and over-the-air experiments on our own testbed.
Codebook-based channel estimation and beamforming, element grouping, sensing-assisted RIS control, and AI-based self-organizing hybrid RIS for 6G.
Hybrid analog/digital beamforming, millimeter-wave MIMO, massive MIMO channel estimation, and link adaptation for OFDMA systems.
Symbol timing estimation, pulse shaping, channel estimation for MIMO-OFDM, and preamble acquisition for spread-spectrum systems.
Algorithms realized on an RFSoC FPGA platform (Xilinx ZCU111) and verified with a USRP X410 / OpenAirInterface 5G testbed.
