Our community garden depends on shared effort, and a few times each season we come together for an all hands on deck Garden Workday. This year, the workday will take place on either April 18th or April 25th at 8:00am depending on weather. It will also mark the official opening day for the season. These events are a chance to tackle bigger projects and refresh shared spaces so the whole garden stays in great shape. These projects might include;
Refreshing mulch in common paths
Weeding shared areas
Lending a hand on plots that need extra care
Cleaning up litter
Our community garden thrives when everyone lends a hand. Throughout the season, there are small but important tasks that help keep our shared spaces clean, safe, and enjoyable for all gardeners. This page lists the current tasks that need attention around the garden and is updated at the beginning of each month.
We need some additional hands-on people to work in Plot 61, the Donation Plot which grows food donated to various sites in West Bend. As of now, there are not enough volunteers to plant, weed, and harvest on a daily basis. The work is somewhat "seasonal", i.e. more weeding and planting in spring, maintenance during summer, donations as needed, fall clean up etc. Volunteers in this plot take one day a week and work should take about an hour. Please reach out to washcocg@gmail.com if you are interested in helping!
