Undergraduates
I am always looking for passionate students to conduct petrological/geological research, using instruments available at Fredonia and/or collaborating institutions. Interested students are encouraged to email me or stop by my office (122 Houghton Hall) to discuss potential projects.
Current opportunities:
Pressure-Temperature-time history of high-grade metamorphic rocks
Kimberlite petrogenesis
Calcsilicate metasomatism in the eastern Jinsha Suture, Tibetan Plateau
Origin and characteristics of serpentinites in the Jinsha Suture, Tibetan Plateau
If you have any research ideas, feel free to chat with me. I will try to help further develop it and help seek research funding to support it.
We have opportunities to use a suite of analytical instruments at Fredonia and at collaborating institutions.
Fredonia: Scanning electron microscope-Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (SEM-EDS) system with CL capabilities, X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) etc.
Collaborating institutions: Electron microprobe (EMP), Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS).
