Professional Background
I'm a new teacher in terms of conducting my own personal classroom. This is my first year teaching at Twentynine Palms Junior High. In 2017 I graduated from the University of South Carolina after doing my Student-Teacher experience at Dutch Fork High School teaching 9th grade World Geography, honors and grade level and 9th-12th Sociology in Lexington-Richland School District 5.
I then served as a substitute teacher for four years. My first year as a substitute was in Columbia, South Carolina where I substituted for Lexington-Richland School District 5 and Lexington School District 2, where I served as a long-term substitute for 6th grade World History, 11th grade U.S. History and a 9th-12th grade World War II Film and Literature course. I have then substituted for three years in Southern California with Morongo, Alvord, and Riverside Unified School Districts in K-12 classrooms. In Morongo I became the preferred substitute for both Yucca Valley Elementary and La Contenta Middle School. In Alvord I served as a long-term substitute at Villegas Middle School as a resource-interventionist teacher in 6th grade Science and History classes.
Additionally I have worked as a homeschool teacher through Outschool via Zoom for portions of the 2020-2021 school year. For the 2021-2022 school year I began teaching 7th grade World History and 8th grade United States History at Twentynine Palms Junior High School.

I am an avid lover of history and books. I am always looking for a way to travel to new historical destinations. My dream vacation would have me spending a bare minimum of about 3 or more weeks in the United Kingdom soaking up the historical information that I can and learning more about the geography of the country that my ancestors came to the United States from in 1635.
When I do get to travel I always add a new stop that I've never been to before. Each site I wind up with, usually, several hundred pictures that I then shift through in order to use them in the classroom for a virtual field trip.
Students are very quick to point out that I always have a book with me. If it's not in my hands or sitting on a desk where they can see it, most know that it is in my bag. If they're reading, usually so am I. I read a lot of science fiction novels and lots of history books, where I pickup new information to bring into the classroom.
I'm also a gamer. Students usually start flocking to whether or not I like Fortnite. The quick answer is no. From that category of a game, I prefer Apex Legends and Call of Duty Modern Warfare: War Zone. I do play a number of other first person-shooters, like the Battlefield franchise, Star Wars Battlefront II, Titanfall 2, Ghost Recon games, The Division series, Halo series, and Destiny 2. I also enjoy adventure/role playing games, like Red Dead Redemption 2, Mass Effect series, Dragon Age series, Assassins Creed series, and Witcher III.
I am originally from Dallas, Texas where I spent most of my childhood. I still have most of my family in DFW or the surrounding area and go for a visit every so often. I lived in Columbia, South Carolina with my family off and on for nearly 14 years. I currently reside in Southern California.
