Attire:
A. NO COTTON -it does not wick sweat.
B. Pre-snow (winter dryland training):
Training/running shoes
Fitness attire appropriate for cold weather
C. When skiing:
Dress in light layers.
Start with a sweat-wicking base-layer (a polypro or similar base layer of long underwear)
Depending on the temperature, wear a long-sleeve top and perhaps add second light long sleeve or turtle neck type shirt.
You may need a synthetic or merino wool neck gaiter/buff.
Somewhat water-resistant pants (not snow pants).
A jacket that is wind blocking, but not bulky.
Wool, SmartWool or any off-brand cold weather performance (Merino) or polypro socks that are long enough to go cover legs above the top of ski boot.
Synthetic skull cap or headband, or if need to stay warmer, use light to moderate weight beanie hat.
Ski gloves – mitten, glove, or lobster glove styles, that will fit in the loops.
For races, coach will hand out early in the season a racing suit to wear (over the other layers).
Ski Rental:
Ski Rental for the season (1 set of skis, boots, and poles) is available via the same link as registration (costs $70), primarily for newer skiers, but is open to everyone.

If investing in equipment, new ski packages or equipment are available for purchase at the local ski shops, such as Finn Sisu, Pioneer Midwest, and Gear West. Identify your skier as part of the school team to get school ski team member discounts.
Ski Swaps typically happen in early November – check out the list at skinnyski.com for dates early to get into an earlier appointment for the best selection of used skis or gear! *Some of the ski shops may still have used skis available outside of the ski swap events.
Other Recommended Equipment:
Ski bag
Boot bag
Drink belt (best to use a wide opening, narrow nozzle may freeze in the cold) such as this: pioneermidwest.com/products/pioneer-midwest-thermo-drink-belt (they replace the cap on their products for free if broken).
***Tip: Each skier should clearly LABEL ALL EQUIPMENT (with their name/phone number), and tag their ski bag with a unique ribbon/bandana/label to minimize gear mix-up at the busy ski venues***
Team apparel:
The team jacket is ordered once a year usually in November through Coach Cran.
Other WBL Nordic Spirit wear can be purchased from White Bear Lake's Hisdahl's through the link below:
