Chess Club Activities

Description of activity: Competitive chess for all levels of players. Wayzata students in Grades 9-12 are welcome and no experience is necessary.

Where to go for more information: Activities Office.

Length of season: October through April.

Meeting times: 3:30-5:00 p.m. Open house on October 9, 2026. Practice on every Friday when school is in session starting October 23, 2026 through April 2027.

Meeting site: Media Center Classroom.

Competitions: Minnesota State Scholastic Championship in March 2027.

Eligibility requirements: Meet the Wayzata Public Schools Extra-Curricular Eligibility Requirements Grades 9-12.

Costs and/or needed equipment: Participation fee is $55 to the Activities Office. Additional fees for tournaments.

Student leadership: Captains and assistant coaches are selected.
