Rules
Game Time: Games will start with a 5 minute warm up period. There will be three 20-minute run time periods. Intermissions will take place in between each period and will be 2 minutes. If there is a tie at the end of regulation a 3 person shoot out will take place (3 different shooters). If the game is still tied you can send out anyone on your team as many times as you want.
USA Hockey Rule book will be followed with the exception of zero checking and zero slap shots. Only shots starting below the waist will be allowed. If a player takes or fakes a slap shot, the whistle will be blown, and the ensuing faceoff will take place one faceoff dot back from the point of the slap shot towards the offending team's defensive zone.
Season standings will be based on a point system. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a shootout loss, 0 points for a loss in regulation.
Touch Offsides.
Red Line Icing.
Officials will be responsible for running the time on the scoreclock, as well as entering the goals when they happen.
Required Gear: Entire bottom half is required (skates, shin pads, breezers, jock strap), helmet and gloves are also required. Shoulder pads and elbow pads are recommended but not required.
Penalties: Will be called by referees and the 2-minute penalty will be served in the penalty box (2 minutes of run time). Your penalty time officially starts once you enter the penalty box (not when the ref calls it, and not once the puck is dropped, but when you enter the penalty box after it is called). Penalties are 2-minutes of run time, and right once they are over, you may immediately leave the penalty box. Leaving the penalty box early will result in a subsequent delay of game penalty.
Everest Rink Only: ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY - No drinking, No alcohol in locker rooms, on benches, or parking lots. You will be removed from the league no questions asked, no warnings given: the league risks losing eligibility and ice time at Greenheck if alcohol is involved!
Team size minimum: 8 players (not including goalies); maximum: 12 players (not including goalies). Can pick up a 13th player off of the LFT/Free Agency player list.
Can get sponsors to help pay for the cost of the league.
No Arguing with the Referees. Referee calls are final. If a referee comes to one of the founders and complains about a specific person, action may be taken (will be reviewed on livebarn). If numerous complaints are levied against the same person, action WILL be taken. Refs are there to help better our experience, if they don’t want to participate because of an individual or group, action WILL be taken. Consequences may be a suspension, all the way to being removed from the league.
No Fighting: ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY - Fighting will result in getting removed from the league. Review will be done to see fault, may result in suspension, or may result in immediate removal from the league.
If you have an issue with a ref, it needs to be brought to the attention of a founder of the league. ACTION MAY NOT BE TAKEN BY INDIVIDUALS FOR ISSUES WITH REFS. ALL ISSUES WITH REFS WILL BE HANDLED BY LEAGUE FOUNDERS.
Scoring: Scoring sheets will be given to team captains at the beginning of the year. Captains are responsible for keeping track of and filling out scoring sheets for their team each week and sending a picture after each game to Dylan or Isaac Schiro so that stats can be updated on the website. Stat Sheets need to be signed by both captains before being sent. If your team does not send your stats, they will not be kept track of by anyone, so they will not be updated on the website. If you lose a stat sheet, there will be blank sheets you can print out on the website and fill out.
Free Agency/Looking For Team Rules: You are allowed a 13th member to your roster if they come from the free agency/looking for team section of the website: You are NOT allowed to use this as a loophole to get a 13th friend on your team. Free agency should be utilized by people who genuinely do not have enough people to make a team, or do not know people in the area. If it is determined that you utilized free agency as a loophole, the person will be taken off of your team and put back into free agency.
Nobody under the age of 18 is allowed to participate. Nobody under the age of 18 is allowed to be on the ice during scheduled ice time.
Goalie subs are allowed. If you need a goalie sub, you can either find your own, or we have a list of extra goalies who want to sub, so you can reach out to us and we can help coordinate finding you a sub. If you want our help finding a sub goalie, we need at least a 2-day advance notice, and then if a goalie cannot be found, your team will not receive a forfeit, however, if we do not receive a 2-day advance notice and you do not have a goalie, then your team will receive a forfeit.
Player subs are allowed off of your team sub list. Your team sub list can consist of 3 players that are not on another teams roster or sub list. Only those rostered on your team and your team sub list will be allowed to play for your team in order to maintain the integrity of the league.
Teams are only allowed to suit 13 skaters a game, even though a full team with 3 subs will contain 16 skaters.
If for some reason a member of your team is no longer able to finish out the remainder of the season, the concern can be brought to the attention of the league operators and a solution can be discussed. Teams are not permitted to swap out players without authorized consent of league operators.
Anyone who is suspected of having a concussion will be asked to leave the ice and follow the concussion protocol established within the documents page of the website. Said player will not be allowed to return to play until cleared by a qualified physician/medical professional (note must be provided).
Each team will be allowed one 30-second timeout per game to be used at any point in the game by notifying an official. Officials will pause the game clock and resume it at the end of the timeout.
Any intentional wasting of time by a team for any purpose (i.e. to maintain a lead) will result in a delay of game penalty at the ref’s discretion (this includes, but is not limited to, intentionally icing the puck repeatedly, slow line changes, slow approach to faceoffs, etc).
If two teams are tied in points at the end of the season, seeding will be based on head-to-head results between the tied teams. If the teams are still tied after head-to-head results, seeding will be based on goal differential between the head-to-head teams. If the teams are still tied after head-to-head goal differential, seeding will be based off of goal differential for the entire season.
The door to the ice rink along the viewing rooms needs to be shut anytime someone is shooting on that end of the ice.
Shootout goals do not count towards stats or goal differential for standings/seeding.
