Clip Down System

If a student breaks one of the school-wide rules, whether inside our classroom, in specials, while in the hallway or in the cafeteria, they will be reminded of what rule they are breaking. Within our classroom, I typically teach students some non-verbal cues and reminders so they can be easily redirected without interrupting teaching times. If they struggle to correct their behavior, they will be asked to clip down. This means that in our classroom, they will move a clothespin with their name on it down to the next level. At the end of the day, you will notice in their agenda a colored circle, indicating what color their clip ended on. The colored levels are listed below:

Green: Great Day!

Blue: Good Day!

Yellow: Needed some warnings; had a classroom timeout.

Red: "Bounced" to a different classroom for a timeout. Parents/guardians will be called.

Reward Systems

Within our class, we have a reward system you might hear referred to as our 'popsicle sticks.' Throughout the day, as I notice students meeting expectations consistently, or going above and beyond, I will ask them to "get a popsicle stick." Popsicle sticks are never taken away, just rewarded and they continue day-to-day. Once a student has 5 popsicle sticks to their name, they can go in the treasure box at the end of the day.

School-wide we also have a reward/accountability system. Each student and staff member from our Pre-K students through the Principal all spin a special wheel at an exciting assembly and are assigned to a house. There are 4 houses that everyone in the school may be assigned to. Students in each class can be awarded 'house points' for going "above and beyond" or for being on green at the end of the day. At the end of each quarter, houses will have house parties and a SUPER party will be given to the house that has the most points for the quarter.
