Hi! I’m Becky Jordan, President of the Watford City PTO. I’ve lived in Watford City since 2017 and spent seven years teaching in our schools. I’m passionate about creating experiences that inspire lifelong learners and positively impact students’ lives.
I’m also a proud mom of two boys in the McKenzie County School District, which gives me a parent’s perspective on how important connection, communication, and community support truly are. I care deeply about ensuring that both our students and staff feel valued, encouraged, and given every opportunity to thrive—both inside and outside the classroom.
Hello! My name is Carissa Suter, and I’m excited to serve as Vice President of the Watford City Parent Teacher Organization. I’ve called Watford City home since 2016 and have one child in school in the district and another who will be in school in a couple of years. I’ve worked in Human Resources in western North Dakota for 13 years and now balance HR consulting with time at home with my son.
I believe a strong connection between families, teachers, and our community helps every child thrive. I’m proud to be part of a group that supports and celebrates our amazing public schools, which are the foundation of our community and the catalyst for creating a better tomorrow.
Hi! I’m Kara Flatland, secretary for Watford City PTO. I moved to Watford City with my husband, a local farmer and rancher, in 2016. I taught kindergarten here for five years before staying at home with our three children. We will raise our family in Watford City so supporting the students and staff of McKenzie County School District #1 is something I care deeply about. I look forward to growing our parent teacher organization in hopes of a bright future for our schools.
Hi there! My name is Shannon Wellen and I currently serve as the Treasurer for the Watford City PTO. I moved to Watford City over 14 years ago in order to further my career in public service. My husband and I have since made Watford City our home and we are committed to this community. We have three children, Josslyn (8), Ivan (6) and Rainy (4). Ever since our children have become part of the school district, I have realized the importance of collaboration between parents, teachers and even our students. I joined the PTO because I wanted to be able to play a part in that collaboration and support. I am excited to see the difference the PTO can make in the lives of our students, teachers and parents!
