The Watford City High School Committee focuses on opportunties that extend beyond graduation. While our district PTO supports all buildings, the high school committee concentrates on initiatives that help students prepare for college, career, and life after high school.
Our primary focus is dual credit scholarships.
Dual credit courses allow Watford City High School students to earn college credit while still in high school. These opportunities reduce future tuition costs and give students a strong academic head start.
Our High School Committee focuses primarily on expanding access to these opportunities through student and teacher scholarships.
Each dual credit course costs approximately $300, paid out of pocket by families.
The PTO provides scholarships to help reduce financial barriers so more students can participate in college level coursework while staying local.
Impact:
Affordable college credits
Reduced future tuition costs
Stronger post-secondary readiness
To teach dual credit courses, teachers must complete 18 college credits in that subject area.
Our PTO is working to provide scholarship support to help teachers earn these required credentials.
When local teachers teach dual credit courses:
Students learn from educators they already know
Courses remain in-person and accessible
Opportunities stay within our community
In addition to scholarship initiatives, the High School Committee also supports staff through:
Meals during parent teacher conferences
Breakroom supplies
Staff appreciation efforts
These efforts help ensure our teachers feel valued and supported.
