The Washington Square West Trust reimburses residents who take specific actions to beautify the neighborhood and improve security through standing grants. These standing grants include:
Fruit-Bearing Ginkgo Trees
The Washington Square West Trust will grant a reimbursement of up $1000 to any home or investment property owner who removes a fruit-bearing gingko tree from his/her property located in Washington Square West and replaces it with another tree from the approved list of street trees by the Fairmont Park Commission, working through the Greening Committee of the Washington Square West Civic Association (WSWCA) or other intermediary approved by the Trust. Bare root replacement trees are not eligible for reimbursement under this program. Payment will be made directly to the property owner by the Trust only after the Greening Committee or other intermediary confirms that the offending tree has actually been removed and replaced; therefore it is important to contact the Greening Committee or other intermediary before the gingko tree is removed. Email us at the address below for more information. This program is limited to one grant per home or investment property in Washington Square West.
Street Facade Lighting
The Washington Square West Trust will grant a reimbursement of up to $100 in out-of-pocket expenses to any home or investment property owner who installs, replaces, or repairs so as to make operable up to two street facade lights on his/her property located in Washington Square West. The light or lights must illuminate a walkway or street open to the public. Send copies of paid bills and receipts for labor and materials for each installation to the Washington Square West Trust at 1232 Rodman Street, Philadelphia, PA 19147. Please include installation address and your telephone number. This program is limited to one grant per home or investment property in Washington Square West.
