OUR MISSION

The mission of the Washington Square West Trust is to preserve the character and enhance the quality of life of Philadelphia's Washington Square West neighborhood.  This is achieved through established programs directed at beautifying the neighborhood, promoting safety and security, and enhancing community learning and cultural interaction.

SUPPORTED PROJECTS & APPLY FOR PROJECT FUNDING

The Washington Square West Trust has provided funds to the following organizations and/or entities to enhance the quality of life for the Washington Square West neighborhood. The Trust does not have programs of its own; rather, it funds organizations that are congruent to the goals of the Trust.

MEET THE RESIDENTS

In 2012 The Washington Square West Trust embarked on a project to create a video history of the Washington Square West neighborhood. We interviewed a number of residents, neighborhood pioneers, and early merchants to capture their thoughts and recollections of the neighborhood.

APPLY FOR STANDING GRANTS

The Washington Square West Trust reimburses residents who take specific actions to beautify the neighborhood and improve security through standing grants. We currently offer four standing grants, including a $1,000 fruit-bearing gingko tree removal grant, a $100 tree stump removal grant, a $100 grant for outdoor lighting, and a $100 grant for installing a Little Free Library Book Exchange box.
