Co-President: Jackeline Reyes Lopez

Jackeline Reyes Lopez (She/her) is a Senior at WashU majoring in Biology: Genomics and Computational Biology with a minor in Anthropology. She plans to pursue an MD after taking a gap year and has an interest in the field of pediatrics. She is passionate about improving healthcare accessibility and immigrant healthcare.

Co-President: Sofía Then

Sofía Then (she/her) is a Junior at WashU. As an Anthropology: Global Health and Environment major and Religious Studies minor, she is interested in exploring the intersectionality of healthcare and how this influences disparities within the field. She intends to pursue WashU’s 3:2 Masters of Public Health program before continuing on to pursue her MD. Currently, she is interested is military medicine and serving our nation's service members and their families. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, staying active, and taking care of her houseplants.

Vice President: Rahmah Jingo

Rahmah Jingo is a fourth-year student at WashU, majoring in Anthropology and Biology. She’s passionate about public health research addressing health disparities and advocacy for health equity. When she’s not in classes, lab, or in studying at Olin, she enjoys reading (currently reading “All About Love” by Bell Hooks), baking and being creative with new recipes. After undergrad, she plans to continue doing public health research, on her gap year(s) before medical school.

Treasurer: Angel Lu

Hi everyone! My name is Angel and I’m from Toronto, Canada! I’m majoring in biology and minoring in medical humanities. My favorite MAPS event so far is the first ice cream social at the beginning of the year and a fun fact about myself is that I have a Motorcycle and auto-racing dad! And for now, my future plan is to get into medical school and specialize in pediatrics!

Secretary: Eric Acevedo 

Eric Acevedo (he/him) is a Junior at WashU, majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. He is passionate about advocacy, community service, striving to address food insecurity, and remaining inquisitive. Eric aspires to become a neurosurgeon, remedy health disparities in medicine, use Spanish to break language barriers, and serve as an advocate for underrepresented minorities pursuing medical careers.

Region II Pre-Medical Representative: Mary Falstin

Mary Falstin (she/her) is a senior with double majors in Biology: Neuroscience and Educational Studies with a minor in Legal Studies. She is currently in the medical school cycle, with hopes of pursuing either an MD or MD, JD. She's driven to intertwine her passion for education and social advocacy with her work in the realm of healthcare. With a focus on being intentional and impactful, she hopes to improve healthcare access for marginalized communities while breaking down barriers to equitable education through mentorship, policy advocacy, and community engagement.

SNMA Liason: Rana Abdalla

Rana Abdalla (she/her) is a sophomore at WashU majoring in Neuroscience. She plans to pursue a career as a physician in the future, where she can combine her passions in patient care and public health. Her favorite MAPS event is Pathways to Medicine. She loves to bake, hike, play tennis, and try new restaurants in her free time.

Webmaster/ Region II Intern: Jada Lee

Jada Lee (She/Her) is a Junior at WashU studying Microbiology and Anthropology: Global Health and Environment. She plans to pursue a career as a physician and public health professional and is interested in investigating how on disease develops on the molecular level and how diseases affects communities through an anthropological lens. She is passionate about mentorship and eliminating disparities in all aspects of healthcare. In her free time she enjoys singing in an A Cappella group, figure skating, and listening to TED Talks.

Publicity Co-Chair: Mahlet Fentaw

Mahlet Fentaw (she/her) is a senior at Wash U majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Medical Humanities. Mahlet will be taking a gap year to do research in Ethiopia before going into medical school. She aspires to be a pediatric neurosurgeon and to better her hometown, St. Louis, by combatting health disparities through various initiatives.

Sebastian Monge (he/him/his) is a Junior at WashU majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience with a possible minor in either computer science or latin american studies. In his free time, he loves to cook suidines of different cultures and understand the history behind the ingredients and dishes he makes. Furthermore, he intends to pursue an MD/PhD in Neuroscience  and eventually become a neurologist or neurosurgeon.

Timileyin Olugbenro (she/her) is an international student from Nigeria, majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. With aspirations to pursue an MD in the future, I'm dedicated to combining my medical training with my passion for reducing healthcare inequalities. My journey is driven by a deep commitment to making healthcare more accessible and equitable for all.

Academic/Mentorship Co-Chair: Amanda Zhu

Amanda Zhu (she/her) is a Junior at Washu double majoring in Psychology and Statistics. She plans to pursue a MD with hopes of becoming an opthalmologist, psychiatrist, or allergist. She is passionate about studying the motivations behind behavior. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, watching movies, and cooking.

Community Service Co-Chair: Kidest Eshetu

Kidest Eshetu (she/her) is a Junior at WashU studying Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology and Writing. She is passionate about being an advocate for mental health awareness for the youth. She plans to apply to medical school to attain her MD in hopes of becoming a Child Psychatrist, or a surgeon.

Community Service Co-Chair: Lizbeth Guijarro Magaña

Lizbeth Guijarro Magaña (she/her) is a Junior in the College of Arts and Sciences. She is majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. Her plans include becoming a physician with an interest in pediatrics and emergency care. She is deeply devoted to advancing healthcare access for Hispanic populations who rely on the Spanish language as their predominant mode of communication, and ensuring that healthcare becomes readily accessible to underserved low-income communities. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, exploring nature, and gardening.

Sophomore Represent-ative: Naima Pyarali

Naima Pyarali (she/her) is a Sophomore at WashU, majoring in Biology and Anthropology: Global Health and Environment. She is passionate about access to healthcare and plans to pursue an MD.

Graduate Advisor: Will Hutson

Will (he/him) is a senior and second-year MPH student at WashU studying Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He plans to pursue his MD in hopes of becoming a psychiatrist or nephrologist who does research on public health interventions. He loves hiking, cooking, watching basketball, and going to stand-up comedy shows in his free time.

Freshman Represent-ative: Brittany Durham 

Brittany Durham (she/her) is a freshman studying biochemistry and molecular biology. She passionate about community service, education, and heath disparities. She aspires to pursue an MD or MD/PhD with in hopes of being pathologist who does research on diseases that affect minority communities. In my free time she likes to bake, watch movies, and read. 

Faculty Advisor: Dean Carolyn Herman

Dean Carolyn Herman (she/her/hers) is the Faculty Advisor for MAPS. She is an Associate Dean in the College of Arts & Sciences and the director of the Pre-Health program. She also teaches in the WashU Prison Education Program, teaches chemistry in the First-Year Summer Academic Program, and is a faculty associate for Wheeler on the South 40.  She loves to be outdoors, and vacations often involve camping.  At home she reads, cooks, moms around with her daughters, a senior and a sophomore in college, and hopes for live music to come back sooner rather than later.
