The idea behind W.O.M.EN. was developed by the Clinical Pharmacology research group at San Luigi Hospital in Orbassano, part of the Department of Clinical and Biological Sciences at the University of Turin. For years, the laboratory has been committed to exploring issues related to gender-specific medicine.

The project was submitted to the Proof of Value (PoV) program promoted by the University of Turin. These calls support the transition from research to real-world application, focusing on projects that promote innovation and inclusion

Phase A of the PoV project, which the team applied for in the autumn of 2024, was successfully awarded. Building on previous work, our team has already studied the effects of OC on the endometrial environment using in vitro models (Phase A of the project). In the current Phase B, the study expands to include women already using OC, allowing for comparative analysis and the development of reliable recommendation algorithms
