The demolition of the old 1877 school on Spruce Street began along with a rebuilding of a new school on that site.  It would be ready for use for the 1953-54 school year.

WEEK in Peoria becomes the first television station available for viewing in the area.

Beverly Manor School is built, the original building containing only four classrooms.  Within a year four more classrooms would be added.

St. Patrick's School is completed and dedicated.

The Dairy Hut Custard Stand opened on Peoria Street.  This would later become Byrd's Barber Shop.
