1932

1932 sees the first reports of George Doering buying a tract of land "on the Peoria road opposite the Frerichs farm, at the turn in the road five miles west of Washington."  This purchase is the birth of Doering Park in what we now know as Sunnyland.

Bride's Hardware, a mainstay on North Main Street since 1911, would move to 110 South Main Street in 1932.  Different variations of a hardware store traded in that location until 1990.

Dr. Howard Mueri came to Washington and took over the dental practice of Edwin A. Morrow after his death.  Morrow had been in practice here since 1899.  Mueri maintained his practice on the Square until 1977.
