SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Greetings! It is that time during the 2024-2026 biennium to consider the
WA State AΔK Scholarships!
The WA State Executive Board has voted to combine the intent of the Bea Richardson Beneficial Fund Scholarship and WA State AΔK Grant to support AΔK members in their endeavors to pursue life-long learning opportunities. Both will now be linked as the Washington Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship.
Bless Bea Richardson for having the heart and forethought to set aside funds in her estate for the purpose of funding work on personal or professional growth experiences for her AΔK sisters. Bea was a member of Alpha Lamba chapter of ADK in Lake Washington School District. She felt strongly about education and requested in her will to provide funds for ongoing personal or professional growth for ADK members.
In addition, the Washington State AΔK budget includes funds for additional scholarship opportunities. The scholarship committee will determine which account, Bea Richardson or WA State, will fund each selected applicant.
Our State Board determined to make available two $2,500 scholarships
for the 2024-2026 biennium, one from each fund!
The Scholarship is available to all AΔK educators active or retired. Below is a list of former requests and/or ideas to spark some thoughts within you!
Here is a list of some former requests to spark some ideas within you.
- buy iPads and specialized apps for students with disabilities
- funds to travel to Italy and England to grow creatively through painting and writing classes
- buy a classroom set of Ukuleles to be used with the 4th and 5th graders
- complete a master’s program
- take a foreign language class to better serve the community
- bring back materials from an overseas trip for the unit being taught
Remember personal enrichment is just that! Whether still actively involved as an educator or retired and wanting to enhance your stance as a life-long learner, how might these monies awarded be of help to you?
