Alpha Delta Kappa sisters in Washington State take altruistic programs very seriously. Consistently ranked first in per capita giving, chapters creatively find ways to participate and strengthen their communities though generous gifts of their time and talents.
High school and college scholarships or mini-grants for beginning educators are presented each year. Support for building educators throughout the school year is provided as well.
Northwest Harvest, Ronald McDonald House, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Sacred Heart and Children’s Hospitals, Alzheimer’s Association and the Longest Day Project, Northwest Harvest, and Special Olympics also benefit from members’ efforts. These names represent only a very few of the creative ways that chapters reach out into their communities to help.
Washington Longest Day Teams By Marianne Nelson Washington A∆K Longest Day Coordinator
Our Longest Day teams have raised $5,237 placing Washington 13th in total fundraising by states with A∆K teams. Thanks to the Sole Sisters (Alpha Rho), the Berry Belles (Alpha Upsilon), the Luminaries (Pi, Alpha Psi, Alpha Chi, Alpha Tau and Rho chapters), and the Cascade Cuties (Alpha Alpha) we have raised about $1,800 more than last year!
Northwest Harvest
Hunger is a solvable problem: we produce enough food to feed everyone. No one needs to go hungry. The conditions that create hunger can be changed by re-building strong regional food systems, investing in common sense safety nets that promote a path out of poverty, developing legislation that is co-created with the people most impacted by food policy, and taking the lead from other countries across the globe that have achieved a Right to Food. https://www.northwestharvest.org/ Donations may be made by individuals or chapters.
