This building, originally constructed in the 1920s, served as a theatre in the 1940s and a music venue in the 1990s. 5913 Washington Ave has been a beacon for creative expression and community for generations. Its Love Wall mural has made it a Houston landmark. Project Washington: 5913 aims to establish a community enrichment and youth development center dedicated to the education, inspiration, and celebration of young artists and their mentors.

My name is Carter Ford. I'm a Kentucky native, a Western Kentucky University graduate, and now a proud Houstonian. My journey has been shaped by a lifelong dedication to youth theatre and the fine arts, and I'm excited to bring that passion to Houston through Project Washington: 5913. Total goal: $6,500, with a $2,000 momentum goal we're aiming to hit as we complete incorporation and pursue grant funding. Legal architecture and Texas incorporation - 45%. Financial integrity: CPA and advisory - 20%. Phase II launch catalyst - 20%. Banking and corporate reserves - 15%. Phase I is about removing friction: by handling business registration, legal fees, inspections, a business bank account, and market research now, every dollar raised in Phase II goes straight into the center - production, talent, venue logistics, and audience experience.

$175k for a one-year lease, $250k for renovations and equipment, with a $500k stretch goal for operations and structural upgrades.
