About This Site

I began this project as a celebration of my home: Washington County, Oregon. It's over 700 square miles of vineyards, city streets, nature preserves, cultural landmarks, mountains, and timberlands. Every bit of it is bikeable.

Now that I have finished biking to all the communities, I'm finding even more to explore that doesn't quite fit the constraints of my original quest. Therefore, I'm continuing this site beyond the original project and broadening the scope. The goal of this page remains the same:

This is a showcase of the NW Oregon area as a premier destination for outdoor adventures of all types and an exploration of our home.

The reports will include relevant information of what I did, how I did it and how you can do it too. Different adventures will target different fitness levels and activity types.

I believe that car-centric travel is isolating and often the worst way to explore. The world is not solely composed of work, home, school and shop with a bunch of junk in between. These excursions highlight better modes of travel to seek out what makes each community special.

I'm Matt. I came to Washington County in 2011. This is my forever home. As a transplant, I'm always interested in learning more about the area.

I'm a very active year-round cyclist. While I've biked from Seattle to Portland and climbed Haleakala on Maui, most of my rides start in Hillsboro from my front door.
