The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program focuses on teaching students to think critically and independently, and how to inquire with care and logic.
IB prepares students to succeed in a world where facts and fiction merge in the news, and where asking the right questions is a crucial skill that will allow them to flourish long after they've graduated from the program. IB curriculum is used in almost 5,000 schools globally and in over 150 countries around the world.
IB courses encourage you to think critically and independently drive your learning. Take part in a program of education that can lead you to some of the highest ranking universities around the world. IB will introduce you to topics and discussions that will make you more culturally aware, both locally and globally. The IB curriculum will also help you engage with people in an increasingly globalized and rapidly changing world.
Anyone can be apart of our growing IB program. The IB program at Washburn High School is primarily tailored for students at the 11th and 12th grade levels. However, students are welcome to embark on the full diploma or just take one course! We want our IB program to be the most diverse, dynamic, and culturally aware program in the United States.
The expectations for IB students are high. Everyone that enters an IB course should be willing to exert their best effort. The typical IB student won't shy away from a challenge. At Washburn, we encourage all students to challenge themselves, rather than take the path of least resistance. Take a risk! Challenge yourself! And learn something along the way.
