Washington Court House Wetlands

Project Overview:

Unwanted nutrients in water systems destroy habitats and contaminate public water. Paint Creek runs through the city of Washing Court House and is an Ohio River Basin Fish Habitat Partnership Priority Area. High levels of total phosphorus, organic nitrogen, and nitrates are traced back to a wastewater treatment plant and upstream cropland. An integrated solution will divert stormwater and water treatment discharge, reduce contaminants in Paint Creek, and rehabilitate vegetative and aquatic life.
