Election Results - A BLUE TSUNAMI

Wasco County Votes Blue, Too!

In addition to the amazing results across the country, right here in our home town and county we saw a clear shift to the left, a reflection of our great candidates as well as a repudiation of Trump's cruelty and ineptituce mingled with a GOP-controlled Congress enabling him.

America made it clear - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Here are some preliminary results as of November 4:

Tina Kotek (D) wins re-election for Governor, 52-45
Jeff Merkley (D) wins re-election to US Senate, 57-41
Hank Sanders (D) wins Oregon House District 52, 55-45
Lisa Gambee (D) wins Wasco County Commission, position 1, 61-38
Darcy Long (D) wins TD Mayor, 42-31-27
Kim Morgan (D) wins City Council, position 1, 56-43

We had some tough losses locally in districts that were very red, but all were closer than they might have been without such great candidates!

Chris Beck (D) lost his race for US Congress, District 2, but moved the needle farther than any Dem candidates in recent history, and he very nearly won in Wasco County! He's currently behind by just 75 votes.
Nicole Bassett (D) is behind in her race for Oregon Senate, District 26, 48-52. But, she won in Wasco and Hood River Counties! Unfortunately the other half of this senate district is in a rural (and red) part of Clackamas County.
Josiah Dean (G) lost his race in House District 57 against 25-year incumbent (and ethically challenged) Greg Smith. We are so appreciative that Josiah stepped into this race toward the end and gave voters a better choice!

MONTHLY MEETINGS - Our meetings are held every second Tuesday of the month, usually at 7:00 PM both in person and on Zoom. If you're not already on our email list to get meeting reminders and other news, email us at WascoDemocrats@gmail.com and we'll sign you up.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES - We'll need lots of volunteers this Fall as we elect Democrats to local, state and national offices. If you've had enough of the lawlessness, choas, cruelty, and corruption of the Trump Administration, volunteer with us! We'll need people to write postcards, put up yard signs, attend candidate events, canvass (knock doors) to get out the vote, and more. CANDIDATES - In November, we held a candidate forum for the four Democrats (so far) running for Congress in the Primary for District 2. They were all a far better choice than our current reprehensible representative, Cliff Bentz.
