Extraordinarily rich site for language acquisition. Designed for K-6 but has great interactive exercises in grammar for almost every topic as well as readings, games etc. Excellent grammar practice site for online learning.
Beginning to Advanced
This is a British English site that adapts current news stories to seven levels of ESL students and comes with an enormous archive of past articles. Each article is adapted to at least a few different levels, with a variety of speaking rates available in audio. After initial reading and listening, students work through exercises in listening, reading, grammar, spelling, and (vocabulary) words.
Intermediate to Advanced
An outstanding site for developing wider knowledge of vocabulary, phrasal verbs, and common collocations (words often used together), especially in relation to the context of work and business . Note that this site favors British spelling and some of the idioms are used only in England. Students learn from multiple choice exercises.
Beginning to Advanced
This is an easy-to-use Canadian site with materials grouped under five ESL levels. Each level provides good supplementary practice in grammar, reading, listening, vocabulary, and puzzles.

A huge archive of free ESL readings at six levels with audio and text. At the bottom of each one there are links to vocabulary, cloze, and dictation exercises. Topics include daily life, American culture, and famous people. There are also fast-paced daily life conversations to hear and study on the site, with text.

A large site created in England. Both English and American accents used in the lessons. Free and easy to use. The full site ranges from lifeskill ESL to lessons with grammar and workplace themes. One area of the site offers "courses" with a list of links to scaffolded activities that allow students to cover a topic at home as it might be covered in class. Created by Randall of Cyber listening lab, this a more limited site focused on understanding conversations with modern slang spoken by teens using realistically chunked and slurred pronunciation. Conversations are part of lessons that include listening, reading, focus on vocabulary, and comprehension exercises.
Easy-to-use pages with many of the exercises focused on advanced English grammar and structural topics, from irregular verb us to run on sentences, to parallel structure, to clear pronoun reference. Very lively and interactive lessons with strong visuals, funny sound effects, and clear explanations provided for errors.
High Intermediate to Advanced
This site digs deeply into grammar with wonderfully clear explanations and examples and even color graphics. Includes parts of speech, sentence diagramming and grammar and syntax terms to really help students understand the language of sentence analysis.

Unusually good follow-up exercises cover critical thinking skills such as sequencing and conclusions as well as vocabulary.

Fun site that uses a variety of strategies to make English interesting and easier to learn, for example, putting irregular verb forms into jazz chants. It includes quizzes, word games, word puzzles, proverbs, slang expressions, anagrams and songs. It includes bilingual sentence pairs in a variety of languages.

Students listen to grammar patterns at every level and write what they hear into sentences with blanks. Not the most exciting site, but very easy to use and good for a meat and potatoes drill to supplement a grammar lesson. Also has readings at several levels with comprehension questions.
