Each member’s portfolio is an important part of the 4-H horse program. It helps members reflect on their growth, document accomplishments, and build real-world skills like writing and goal setting. Your portfolio is comprised of a Cover Letter and Resume
The resume should provide a cumulative summary of a 4-H member’s background, skills, and accomplishments.
Members should highlight their 4-H experience by including:
Project involvement
Activities and events
Awards and recognitions
Leadership experiences

Additional Guidelines:
Update your resume each year, keeping the most relevant information
Clearly label each entry as 4-H or non-4-H
Include contact information, county, school grade, and year in 4-H
Maximum length: 2 pages
Style and formatting are at the applicant’s discretion
The cover letter is a narrative to accompany your resume.

Ensure it addresses the outlined responsibilities and objectives for each application
Judges’ rubrics should correspond to the specific responsibilities/objectives

Stay Organized
Members should track their projects, activities, awards, leadership, and service throughout the year. Keeping records updated makes it much easier to complete your resume and cover letter when it's time to submit
Portfolios are not required for participation in the 4-H program. However, if a member wishes to be eligible for year-end awards, a completed portfolio must be submitted
