San Diego-based food critic Warren Van Dam believes that there is something for everyone in his beloved town. And for today's blog, he shares three top dishes in San Diego and where people can find them.

Double Bacon Cheeseburger: While several establishments offer the classic double bacon cheeseburger, Warren Van Dam mentions that nobody entirely does it like Hodad's in Downtown and Ocean Beach. Hodad's version of the hearty favorite is just right in terms of size, but so much more satisfying than the garden-variety fast-food versions.

Carne Asada Fries: Lolita in East Village and Kearny Mesa has probably the most creative take on the popular American side dish that Warren Van Dam has ever sampled. Lolita's Carne Asada Fries consists of thinly sliced strips of seasoned steak, shredded cheddar cheese, cotija, crema, guacamole, and thin-cut fries.

California Burrito: Many establishments have their version of the burrito, but the one that Nico's Mexican Food offers leaves them all in the dust. Basically, the California Burrito is the Carne Asada Fries, but in burrito form. Any burrito fan who's tasted Nico's Mexican Food's take on the legendary offering will surely think less of any other burrito, anywhere else, notes Warren Van Dam.
