Winter 2022 Newsletter

2022 Dues, Election of Directors:

A regular meeting of the Warren Amateur Radio Society will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in the Warren County Emergency Management conference room at 111 N Buxton in Indianola. Please enter via the alley door. 2022 dues of $25 are due and payable at that time, or may be paid in advance by mail to Warren Radio Society, PO Box 1, Indianola, IA 50125 or via PayPal using the link on the club website http://warrenradiosociety.org . Only licensed amateurs with current dues paid are eligible to vote, however ALL interested persons are invited to attend.

New expenses going forward:

The club has assumed the expenses of upkeep and operation of the 147.195 and 444.125 repeaters located near Pickard Park. For the last several years these have been the primary repeaters used by the club. Site rental and utilities for this location run nearly $650 per year. With insurance and other operating expenses and fees, this means the club needs nearly $1000 per year to break even. We have also incurred a 1-time expense of $800 to put the 444.125 repeater back in operation. The time has come to be looking at revenue sources. This will be discussed at the February meeting.

Classes & Testing:

The winter Technician class has been well received, with 12 enrolled. A General upgrade class is scheduled for Feb. 13 – Mar. 13, 2022, and is already nearly ½ capacity. To enroll or for more information, email Rich, AA0RR at aa0rr@arrl.net . Preregistration is REQUIRED.

Club Directors:

Our bylaws provide for 3 to 5 Directors, leaving 2 seats currently vacant. We would like to fill these seats. If you are interested in serving as a Director of the club, please email warrenradiosociety@gmail.com including your callsign by February 1, 2022. We will add you to the ballot. Current Directors are Rich Rogers, AA0RR; Brad Proctor, KD0WFX; and Steve Kuhn, N0CFN. Directors are elected for a 1 year term commencing at the conclusion of the winter annual meeting.
