The 404th Regiment is an empire based mercenary company owned and funded by their most noble Duke. With their bright red and black slashed uniforms, and their cheerful marching songs they travel from realm to realm bringing wholesale war to the highest bidder.
With each soldier being trained and issued a Regimental shield and rifle, they also field *if the event permits* artillery to rain hell upon the battlefield, making them an excellent siege breaker unit.
Warband Leader
The red and black uniform is a strict requirement, unfortunately that means members can only join once they have their kit sorted
Each member is given a shoulder pad with insignia, that is used to mark their role
The warband has member ranks and titles, these are given after challenges or pulling off stunts, these have no effect on gameplay and are just for fun.
The warband has crafting days for making kit, like shields, band guns and soft kit.
The warband has training days both for general training/challenges and for things like artillery safety.
Anyone is welcome to join but we do have a recruitment period before you can officially join in case a member doesn’t fit, as buying the kit can be very costly.
We lend recruit tabards to players trying to join so that they can still fight with us, and
There is a warband discord server that has links to purchasable kit, guides, and inspiration pics.
As the Empire expanded north, the Empress granted land to Duke William as a vassal; one of the edge territories close to the Wargrounds. The Duke was required by law to arm and field at least one regiment, however, while most lords with rich and stable lands tend to have an ill-trained and cheap peasant militia instead of a standing regiment, Duke William saw this as folly. While other lords saved on coin, the Duke committed to fielding multiple regiments and hiring them out to the other lords of the Empire. This not only means that his soldiers are constantly being trained and experienced in war, but they also make a return on their coin. This practice has grown to the point where the Duke has more regiments at his command than there are internal conflicts within his lands, and likely is also a contributing cause of the stability. As a result, the Duke has charged regiments with leading expeditions outside of the Empire in search of new contracts. The 404th regiment of heavy foot, also known as the “Line Breakers” is one of the regiments of experienced soldiers commanded and funded by Duke William. While the 404th is just another number on the Duke’s books, the regiment changes the flow of most conflicts between minor nobles. Bringing uniformed fighting and combined arms against peasant rabbles, breaching tactics to stagnant sieges, and artillery down upon savage hordes - these professional soldiers prove a valuable addition to any campaign. It is noted that while the 404th takes on any campaign, and will even take on special high-risk missions within such, that they do this at a price, and a ruthless contract. As for the soldiers themselves, they flaunt their wealth, much to the agitation of local soldiers, expect high quality supplies, treatment, pay, and both know and demand their rights - much to the chagrin of local noblemen used to the town watch. However, when in battle, the soldiers act with strict discipline and professionalism and follow a code of conduct almost unheard of outside of knightly orders
