"Here we stand, perched upon the mighty outcroppings of Fenrir's Incisor, gazing upon the lands below. We are the guardians of Ulfrheim, blessed with the healing nature magic of Yggdrasil. As wardens, our path forward is not always clear, but no matter where our paws take us there is no wrong path.
You've found your way here for a reason. There is purpose. Should you choose to continue, you must follow and keep your mind open. Come, the Archdruid awaits..."
As your paws follow the felvarg in front of you, a hulking figure of rich brown furs, you can't help but notice the thin wispy trails of energy that seep from the corners of her eyes. She is a Hellhound, that much is obvious, although you question why such a gatekeeper is present atop the peaks of this mountain. The trail of energy befuddles you. What kind of pack have you stumbled upon?
The pulling sensation that yanked at your chest urged you onwards, the same sensation that you felt many times before during your life but had always been unable to explain it. The earth was hard beneath your paws, nothing but dry clay and rock with only a few sprigs of life jutting out from cracks. The cliffsides edged closer to your paws as you walked a thin path across loose rocks. The steep drop below made your stomach lurch, but despite the fate that awaits you should you slip and fall, there was no fear. Somehow you believed that should you slip... you would not fall.
Before you the path begins to widen, jagged peaks curve and twist above, and you begin to notice a difference in the terrain. The once hard, rocky ground was growing soft... cool... lush. You looked down to see the sparse beginnings of grass, flowers, bushes, saplings of various species, and even full grown trees that reached up towards the sky ahead. Thin stumps of various heights, but no higher than your shoulders, now began to line the edge of the path, old rope draped between each post to create some security should somefel fall. Commotion could be heard ahead now, your ears pricked at the noise of chatter and laughter. A deep breath and your nose picked up an array of scents. Smoked meats, herbs, a fire smoldering, rich cedar and pine, various flora of sweet scents.
Rounding a curve in the path you now see a gathering of felvargs, they bustled around the large campsite paying little attention to you. Beyond the various shade cloths was a cave entrance. Vines grew up and around its opening and from the top draped lush pink and purple flowers that smelled like honey. Torches lit the inside, mounted to the cave walls. Various rugs, worn with use, lay upon the ground. The Hellhound led you thru. A gentle curve and slope downwards into the heart of the mountain soon revealed a large cavern. The gentle flow of water reached your ears and a distant waterfall. Various bridges, both natural and constructed, connected various outcroppings to each other. Huts of all different shapes and sizes could be seen dotting the edges of the cavern. They were the homes to the various felvargs that called this pack home. In the center of the cavern was a large, carved out area fit with various pillows and hides for seating. They formed a circle around a large fire pit, which glowed dimly as only its coals still breathed. A meeting place or sorts? The cavern was rich with flora and fauna alike. A small slice of paradise hidden within the mountain. The Hellhound led you across the pit and towards a larger hut up a series of carved stairs. It looked much grander than the other huts, and as they approached, the hides that made up the door parted and a small dwarf appeared.
Upon her waist was a sash, decorated in various baubles, bottles, and herbs. A staff floated magically beside her, a crystal-like stone of blue was set atop it in its entwined branches. With fur of blue, she smiled, "Welcome. I see you possess The Calling, as many of us do. Please, step thru and speak with the Archdruid." and she stepped aside. The Hellhound that served as your escort also stood aside, allowing you to pass by and thru the doorway.
Pushing aside the hides and entering the hut, you are welcomed with the scents of various herbs. Some you recognize, like mint and sage, and others are a bit foreign to you. The whole hut smelled rich of earth, it was calming. Various candles dotted the room, either mounted upon the walls or placed on shelfs. Plush hides and rugs covered the floor beneath your paws and it made you almost want to stop and lay in them. Ahead of you, a figure moved. You stopped, taking in the figure in the limited light. It was a felvarg... but... as they turned towards you, you took note of the massive antler display upon the felvargs crown. If it had been any darker, you'd have sworn it was a moose. A symbol glowed upon their shoulder and their rich blue eyes stared you down. You suddenly felt as if this felvarg could see right thru you into your very soul. The felvargs tail swished from side to side as they studied you.
"Welcome newcomer. I am Archdruid Elowynn. You have already met my mate, Sache and my trusted advisor, Avira." You knew he meant the two that stood outside the door, "Yggdrasil calls to you. Your choice is your own, but if you wish to embrace her gifts... step forward. Clear your mind... and look within." he said softly and stepped back, revealing a pedestal beside him with a large stone basin filled with the clearest water you've ever seen. Hesitantly, you step forward and peer into it. You see only your reflection within and the more you stare the more you feel as if you should submerse your face into its depths. The choice is yours.
