My name is Valentina Barbesta and I am the Director of Activities at the Fellowship at Carolina Park: an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. I am looking to build up community outreach here at the Fellowship by providing opportunities for students to come and share their talents and time with our seniors. For example, if there are various clubs that would want to come give a demonstration, a guitar group that would play for the seniors, art students who might like to come help them with an art project, singers, and musical performers in general. Or just students who are looking for an opportunity to work with seniors.

Shifts typically range from 4–5 hours, depending on the role and day.
Afternoon Expo shifts on both days or Race day shifts tend to work especially well for students.

Runner packet pickup
Greeting participants
Crowd control and answering general race questions
Race Day (March 28):
Water aid stations

Community Service Hours
Volunteers do earn community service hours, and we are happy to sign off on hours worked to meet school requirements.
Age & Supervision
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. If a group of underage students is volunteering together, adult supervision from a teacher, school representative, or parent is required.
Food & Drinks
Expo volunteers receive snacks or lunch depending on the shift worked.
On race day, snacks and drinks are available in the volunteer room near Marion Square, and many event partners and vendors offer free food and giveaways.
Sign-Up Information
Students can view available volunteer roles and sign up using the link below:

If Wando High students plan to volunteer as a group, they may create a team during registration. One person can serve as the Team Captain and generate a team-specific sign-up link to share with students. This ensures all volunteers are grouped together, and teams are not limited in size as long as spots are available.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need anything further. I’d be more than happy to talk through options and help identify the best opportunities for your students.
Thank you again for your time and support.

This event is more than just a race—it’s a tribute to our dear friend TyWanza Sanders and his lasting legacy. Through this event, we are proud to award $6,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in Charleston, SC; over $30,000 awarded since the event’s inception. Tywanza, a man with a philanthropic spirit and a commitment to the achievement of youth in his community and beyond, was the youngest victim of the 2015 Mother Emanuel Church Massacre

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is hosting the 2026 Walk MS on Saturday, April 11th at the James Island County Park, Wapoo shelter.
There are several areas to sign up for, but we would love for our student volunteers to also sign up for the Spirit Team.
The Spirit Team gathers together at the Start/Finish arch to cheer the participants on as the Walk begins and ends. Walk participants love having people cheering them on and have commented in years past that it is their favorite part of the walk.
Please use the link provided to sign up for the Walk. Up to 5 volunteer hours can be earned by volunteer participants.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. My name is Anne Walpole. I am a volunteer with the MS Society and also live with Multiple Sclerosis.
