Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful city in Mexico know for its lavish resorts. There is such a wide range of activities and sightseeing to do as the town has warm costal waters that are perfect for watersports, or just laying on the beach. It is also great for a night out as there are many wonderful clubs, restaurants, and bars. Puerto Vallarta is more of a touristy place to visit in Mexico, yet there is still the opportunity to escape from the resorts and explore local shops or go sightseeing.
Now, if you are planning on exploring the town, I would highly recommend either walking or taking taxis as traffic can be quite intense if you are not used to the area. If you do decide to take a taxi keep in mind that the current exchange rate from pesos to dollars is about 20 pesos for every 1 dollar. Be aware that if you try and pay in dollars some taxi drivers may argue that the exchange rate is higher thus you could overpay. So although US dollars are acceptable in the majority of places, I would highly recommend exchanging for pesos so you don't need to worry about the exchange rates.
Overall this resort town is a very popular travel destination and it's easy to see why.
