This 2-day itinerary is the perfect guide for everything you need to know and the best places to visit in the Grand Tetons.
If you are limited to the amount of time you can spend in the park, then follow this guide to make sure you get the most out of your visit! If you only have a day to enjoy the sights, even following the guide for just one of these days will ensure you have a wonderful time!
Jenny Lake: Jenny Lake is at the base of the Tetons and is a base point for several hikes. You can visit Hidden Falls (1.3 miles), Inspiration Point (2.2 miles), loop around Jenny Lake (7.1 miles), or even just explore parts of these trails. Overall, Jenny Lake makes the perfect picnic spot and viewpoint.
If you aren't interested in hiking, you can also take boat-rides in the Summer Season. You can also shave several miles off your trip if you want to hike up Cascade Canyon. This boat ride shortens the hike by shaving off 2 miles each way! However, you can still just enjoy the boat-ride around the lake.
Boat Ride Costs Round-trip:
Adult: 20$ (12-61)
Child: 12$ (2-11)
Senior: 17$ (62+)
You can also take one-way trips and hike back for a less expensive ticket.
Oxbow Bend: This scenic viewpoint is the perfect photo opp. This turnout looks back on the river with the Grand Tetons in the background. It is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing, a picnic, or watching a sunset!
Keep in mind, if you do see wildlife make sure to maintain a large distance so as to protect the wildlife and yourself. Also, make sure to carry proper gear when out hiking or exploring the park.
This includes water, proper clothing, and bear spray. Although bear spray can be purchased in several locations throughout the park, it would be much cheaper to purchase it beforehand.
Keep bear spray on hand and make sure not to leave in hot vehicles.
Snake River Bridge: This bridge is almost a guaranteed spot to see Moose! You will find visitors pulled over on the bridge year-round taking photos of the wildlife here. So, if you drive past make sure to look closely in the bushes and downstream for a great chance to see some of the park's wildlife!
Once again, make sure to keep a safe distance from wildlife and follow park guidelines.
Jackson Hole: Grand Teton National Park sits right outside the town of Jackson Hole. For a fun way to break up your trip, spend a few hours enjoying this town! There are many museums, shows, restaurants, and cute shops to enjoy! I would also highly recommend visiting the playhouse for dinner and a show! They have a variety of performances throughout the year as well as ghost tours!
Turnouts: During your time in the park, make sure to take advantage of the turnouts to look for wildlife, take family photos, or just to enjoy the scenery. You can stop at these turnouts at any point during your trip and won't regret it!
