La danse traditionnelle d’Asie, par sa richesse esthétique, cette danse est admirée de tous ceux qui la connaissent. Elle est connue pour l’utilisation approfondie des mains, du haut du corps, qui impliquent une coordination complexe. Les mouvements et les expressions spécifiques à chaque style reflètent le contexte culturel et social propre aux différentes régions. 

Wan-Chao, danseuse formée dans plusieurs disciplines, propose un cours/stage pour introduire aux styles de la danse asiatique traditionnelle, en partageant sa connaissance de ces différentes cultures régionales, et également son attention à la conscience corporelle de chaque individu.  Pour elle, à travers le mouvement et les expressions, la danse est aussi une voie pour augmenter la conscience de soi.

• La mise en conditionnement physique à partir des concepts de TaiChi DowYin (太極導引), du ballet classique, du moderne, et d’autres disciplines de danse

• La présentation et la pratique des mouvements caractéristiques de chaque style d’Asie

Asian traditional dance is known for the extensive use of hands, upper body, and complex coordination.  The distinctive movements and expressions reflect the cultural background of the region or the society.  The richness and the aesthetics have charmed many people who have seen it.

To Wan-Chao, dancing is more than movement or expression; it is also a pathway to raise self personal awareness.
In this class, she will bring her training in various disciplines to introduce some traditional Asian dance styles, to share her findings about the cultural background of various regions, and her observation of individuals’ body-awareness as well.  

The class will include:

• Body conditioning from the concepts of TaiChi DowYin (太極導引), classical ballet, modern, and other dance disciplines

• Dance movements from different regions in Asia.

Period & Time:

• Period: December 4, 2024 - June 2025

At the end of school year festival, Wan-Chao joint the students of the elementary school in Matour to present traditional dances around Asia, which the students learnt from the project.

Wan-Chao joined NTU Gamelan Gita Lestari for Balinese Gamelan workshop and demonstration performance.

Wan-Chao joined Melati Anastasia to perform Javanese court dance for Kita Charity Concert 2022.

Since 2020, many studios and theaters in Indonesia have been impacted because of the pandemic.  The initial mission of the Indonesian Javanese Court Dance Online Workshop Series, is to find ways working with dance teachers who have been affected , but also to offer opportunities for people around the world to meet and to learn from the experts in the field during this difficult period.  

This series will be focusing on Javanese Court Dance, an incredibly refined art form with meditative quality. Let’s take the Stay-at-home opportunity to explore the self-awareness process through practicing this introspective art.

Presenting a solo dance from the documentary film "Finding Kukan" at the 2016 HIFF Opening Reception, and attending "Finding Kukan" World Premiere screening.

Presenting a solo work on music by Ravi Shankar for a concert commenmorating the India's most esteemed legendary sitarist and composer. 

Other performers include 屋希耶澤 Uzi Azer, 金光亮平 Ryohei Kanemitsu "YO", 陳彥心 Soma (classical dance), 黃美瑜 Mei-Yu Huang  (classical dance), and Shankari Priya Prakash (vocal). 

參與由印度文化節所製作的和平大象音樂舞蹈演出。新作靈感源自於印度音樂舞蹈, 象在印度文化所代表的和平象徵的傳統,及近代棲息地被破壞而使得象成為瀕臨危險的動物的反省。

同台演出的表演團體包括秀峰國小合唱團, Bharatanatyam 舞蹈家 Anupriya Guha, Tabla鼓手 Akash Dubey, 及身兼合唱作曲詞編排的 Kathak 舞蹈家 Awantika Dubey. 

Wan-Chao and her dancers joined Peace Elephant, a music and dance concert produced by Indian Music Center in Taiwan, to present a new work inspired by Indian dance, music, and elephant’s symbolism in Indian culture/myth, as well as the threats elephants are facing from human intrusion and poaching. Performers include Awantika Dubey (Composer/Singer/Harmonium) , Akash Dubey (Tabla), Anupriya Guha (Bharatanatyam), and XiuFeng Elementary School Choir.
