Short- Term Tutors Needed

Brumby Elementary School needs adults during the school day to tutor individual students in preparation for GA Milestones tests.

The Georgia Milestones Assessment System (Georgia Milestones) is a

comprehensive assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school.

Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge

and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in language arts,

mathematics, science and social studies. Students in grades 3 through 8 will

take an end of grade assessment in each content area.

Volunteers will work one on one with a Third, Fourth or Fifth grade student in basic math and or reading skills. Volunteers can choose the day, time,

grade and subject.

Time Commitment: Volunteering begins week of Feb 26 and ends March 30, 5 weeks total.

Sign up for the amount of time that works with your schedule, and more than one class, if desired. ( The norm is 1-2 hours, once per week)

Brumby Classroom Needs: Choose from the following:

1. (1) Kindergarten – Mrs. Debolt - Letter identification - Any time/Any day except 10:05 – 12:45 (this is their specials and lunch time)

2. (1) 5th grader – Ms. Osborne’s class - 9:30-11:00 or any time after 11:40 for MATH. Preferably 2 x 2 multiplication – any day of the week

3. (1) 3rd grader – Ms. Davis - reading-writing - Time: 8-9:15 range or 11:30-12:20 range- any day of the week

4. (1) 4th grader – Ms. LaFontaine – MATH - any time after 12:15

5. (1) Kindergarten – Mrs. Lloyd – letter identification – 8-9:30 – any day of the week.

Please List the Day of week, Time Period and Classroom you prefer. For example: “I can tutor on Mondays from 8-9am, Ms. Davis’s class.”

Lisa will send you an email confirmation. Before tutoring begins, you will be connected with your teacher by email from Mr. D, Brumby Assistant Principal and volunteer coordinator.

Set up on Wednesday, Oct. 12th from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Pirate theme

Help running the register and assisting students with picking the “just right” book: Oct 17th -21st .

  • Any mornings from 7:15 a.m. until 8 a.m. (that’s the biggest rush of students and some parents)

  • Other times available during the day until 2:30 p.m.

  • Saturday during our Fall Festival, Oct 22nd from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

ALSO - Please consider being a “Book Fairy.” Donations are converted into “book fairy bucks” so that students can pick and purchase books from the book fair. Send checks made to Powers Ferry Elementary, to the attention of Kathy Culbertson, and let us know to designate the donation to book fairies.
