Code of Conduct
As a member of Walton PTSA Community Outreach, I agree to abide by the following guidelines in the areas of attendance, behavior and commitment. I understand that I can be removed from activities for violations.
ATTENDANCE
Members must commit to a minimum of 13-14 sessions per school year. Each member is only allowed 2 absences per school year. On the 3rd absence, the member will be removed from membership.
Members may make up absences. Contact your Student Leader or Parent Advisor to make arrangements.
BEHAVIOR / SUPERVISION
When representing Walton, members are expected to behave maturely and responsibly while working independently. Members can be removed from WCO activities for lack of enthusiasm, inappropriate behavior and language, or other violations. A Parent Advisor will not be on site each time members are working in the community.
CELL PHONES
Members should turn phones off while they are on assignment. They may use their phones before they sign in or after they sign out. (Members must have special permission to take photographs.)
COMMUNICATION
Email: The majority of communication from student leaders and parent advisors about WCO activities will be done directly with the member via the email address provided on the application.

Facebook: The Facebook page is to be used for WCO activities and information only. The Communications Director is the administrator. Members must have approval to post new information.
Remind: All members should subscribe to the Remind text service for up-to-date information about WCO.
HOURS
It is ultimately the responsibility of the member to submit service hours to the Walton Volunteer Center. WCO will facilitate this process in the following manner.
· Leaders will monitor and approve attendance / hours
· Members are responsible for their personal records (refer to Attendance Procedures document)
· Members will be given a deadline to submit their hours through Naviance / x2VOL
· Parent Advisor will verify hours
· WCO will set internal deadlines to coincide with Walton x2VOL deadlines
INCLEMENT WEATHER
When CCSD schools are closed or released early due to inclement weather, WCO is cancelled. When the announcement states that “afterschool activities are cancelled except ASP,” WCO is cancelled.
RESIDENT INTERACTION at Assisted Living Center
Only staff members are allowed to open doors for residents to leave the facility.
Only staff members are allowed to lift residents.
Do not be alone with a resident. Ask staff for assistance.
You are a guest; be respectful, use positive language and appropriate behavior.
STUDENT INTERACTION at Elementary Schools
Hug children from the side, not the front.
No piggy-back rides.
Have the children sit on chairs beside you, not in your lap.
Do not be alone with a student. Ask staff for assistance.
You are a role model; use positive language and appropriate behavior.
TRAINING - MANDATORY
Every member (new and returning) must attend a mandatory training session at his/her assigned location every year. The dates will be announced on the website and through the group leaders. If it is impossible for the member to attend at his/her assigned location, he/she may request permission through the group leader to attend an alternate session. If a member does not attend a training session, he/she will be removed from the membership.
TRANSPORTATION
Members are responsible for transportation to any off-campus service assignment. If members are providing their own transportation, they should consult their parent/guardian and use their own judgment regarding driving in hazardous weather conditions. Please do not take unnecessary driving risks. You will have an opportunity to make up your absence if you can not arrive safely at your location.
UNIFORM POLICY
To participate in WCO activities, members must wear the uniform t-shirt and either long pants or jeans. In the warm months, short pants or skirts that are 2” above the knee may be worn. Leggings are not considered to be pants.
The uniform policy is based on the dress code of the elementary schools we serve.
A uniform shirt will be provided to each “new” member. “Returning” members who need to replace a uniform shirt may order one only on the membership application with a payment of $10.
